From Concept to Reality
The journey began with a pre-existing mobile home on a double lot, which required demolition before construction could commence. Meanwhile, Swanson House Plans worked closely with the homeowner, an experienced project manager, to bring the vision to life.
The design was inspired by a previously built home, but with significant modifications to fit the unique footprint of the lot. The garage was cleverly positioned at a 90° angle, allowing for easy access and a seamless integration with the rest of the house.
A True Custom Build
Throughout the construction process, the homeowner took an active role in managing the project, leveraging his industry connections to work with top local trades and even sourcing his own labourer for the job site. This collaborative approach ensured that every aspect of the build, from the foundation to the cabinetry, met the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship.
Minor Setbacks
Despite the meticulous planning, a two minor issues arose shortly after completion. A drainage problem caused a flood in the backyard and shortly upon possession one of the kids accidentally turned on the bathtub and plugged it. However, this was quickly resolved, and the homeowner was able to enjoy their new home without any further issues.
Value for Money
The total cost of the project came in at approximately $450 per square foot, an exceptional value considering the high-quality materials and expert craftsmanship that went into the build. This was made possible by the homeowner's hands-on approach and the team's ability to work efficiently without the overhead costs associated with larger builders
